   Elliot saw the swing moving through the air. His feet wanted to run right now.

   He reached for the chain. Dad held up a calm hand. “Wait until the space is safe.”

   Elliot's body felt full of hurry. “Sam's turn,” he whispered. “My turn comes next.”

   While he waited, Elliot counted three clouds. One looked like a boat. One looked like a moon.

   Sam swung forward and back. Elliot kept his toes behind the line and watched.

   At last, Sam slowed down. “Your turn,” Sam said. Elliot's hurry became a smile.

   Elliot sat, held the chains, and pushed. The swing lifted him toward the evening sky.

   The silver moon rose higher. Elliot noticed another child waiting by the line.

   “Your turn,” Elliot called. He stepped away so the next child could swing safely.

    Waiting is doing something kind with my body until my turn arrives.

    The next Saturday, Elliot waited for the climbing wall. His body remembered the safe line.

    He counted four red holds while another child climbed. Counting gave his hurry a job.

    “Your turn,” called the helper. Elliot climbed slowly and kept space for the next child.

    At the top, Elliot looked down. The line was still there, and the next turn was coming.
